Experienced

I’ve practiced employment and business law for over a decade, with deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks like Arizona’s ABS program. I’ve also led legal and HR functions across startups, nonprofits, and high-growth companies, so I understand both the rules and the real-world pressures of building something new.

Personal Touch

I work directly with every client – no handoffs, no runaround. My goal is to offer clear, responsive, and practical guidance that fits your business, not just the textbook.

Entrepreneur

I’ve built and run my own companies, so I know what it’s like to bet on a big idea. That experience shapes how I advise clients: flexible, strategic, and always focused on helping you move forward with confidence.

About Me

I help law firms, legal tech companies, and investors navigate Arizona's Alternative Business Structure (ABS) framework. As an appointed member of the Arizona Supreme Court's ABS Committee and a compliance attorney, I guide clients through ABS formation, certification, regulatory requirements, and governance with unique insight into the Committee's standards and expectations.

Through Arizona ABS Law, I advise on regulatory strategy, ethics, and building sustainable legal businesses within the ABS model. I also support companies in developing compliant policies, managing workplace issues, and partnering with leadership to reduce legal risk and drive growth. Additionally, I support Arizona attorneys who wish to become compliance lawyers with hands-on assistance and training.

My approach is practical and business-minded. I focus on giving clear, usable guidance that aligns with how your organization actually works.

How We Help

Legal Practice Areas

ABS Applications and Hearing Prep

I can draft, refine, and submit Arizona ABS applications that meet the Arizona Supreme Court's requirements, guiding you through each section to ensure your application is clear, complete, and strategically positioned for approval. Beyond the application itself, I help you prepare for your Arizona ABS Committee hearing by reviewing potential questions, refining your responses, and ensuring your presentation reflects a clear understanding of your business model and risk controls. Whether you're starting from scratch on your application, need a mock Q&A session, or want strategic guidance on how to explain your ownership structure or compliance plan, I make sure you're fully prepared at every stage of the process and walk into your hearing ready to answer with confidence.

Compliance Lawyer Training

I provide comprehensive training for Arizona attorneys who want to serve as ABS compliance lawyers, equipping you with the practical tools, templates, and hands-on guidance needed to manage compliance requirements for your ABS firm. From understanding the Arizona Supreme Court's ongoing regulatory expectations and annual reporting obligations to implementing effective risk management protocols, fee-sharing controls, and ownership oversight procedures, I give you the systems and know-how to keep your ABS in good standing. Whether you need ready-to-use compliance checklists, guidance on maintaining required records and policies, or step-by-step training on conducting internal audits and addressing potential issues before they escalate, I provide both the foundational knowledge and practical resources to confidently fulfill your role as your firm's compliance officer and ensure your ABS meets all Court requirements.

Ongoing Compliance

I provide practical, ongoing support to help ABS entities and their compliance lawyers meet their compliance obligations without unnecessary complexity. Whether you need help updating policies, responding to regulatory inquiries, or ensuring your operations continue to align with your original application, I'm here for the long haul.

Business Formation

I handle the full legal formation process for your Arizona ABS entity. From LLC registration to customized operating agreements that align with Rule 33.1. My goal is to set up your business on solid legal footing so you can focus on service delivery, innovation, and growth.

What is an Arizona ABS?

In simple terms, Arizona’s Alternative Business Structure allows non-lawyers to have ownership, investment, and management roles in law firms. This opens doors for innovation, funding, and new business models that weren’t possible under traditional law firm structures.

In most states, law firms must be entirely lawyer-owned, meaning outside investors or operational leaders without a law license can’t hold equity or decision-making power. Arizona is one of the few jurisdictions in the U.S. (and the only one with no sunset clause) where a truly alternative business structure is allowed by rule, not just pilot program.
